SHIVA TEMPLE The Skanda Purana gives a picture of the place and the Siva temple located here.[1] Sage Narada explains to Sounaka and other saints that Amareswara is situated in Amareswaram on the bank of river Krishna, and is on the southeastern side of the Srisailam temple. He also tells that Amareswaram is important because of three sacred things: the Krishna river, a Kshetra with a Sthala mahatmyam (land that has special powers) and the Mahalinga Murthy (God Siva in Linga form). .

AMARLINGESWERA SWAMI


The This ancient temple dedicated to Shiva enshrines a 15 feet high white marble Shiva Lingam and is surrounded by massive walls with towers. Raja Vasireddy Venkatadri Naidu renovated This temple constitutes one of the five Pancharama Kshetrams in Andhra Pradesh Amareswara (Shiva) temple walls have lot of inscriptions that give information about the kings who ruled over the area. The present holy shrine of Amaralingeswara (Lord Shiva) temple is associated with the reign of Vasireddy Venkatadri Nayudu who ruled the region before the advent of the British rule (See Amararama). People around Amaravati widely believe that he temple was constructed to install peace after a massacre of 1000 violent tribesman plotting against the king in a sinister carnival organized to capture them. Later Venkatadri Nayudu built a temple in the same spot upon guidance from scholars of his court. He was well-known for his benevolence , munificience and construction of a large number of temples and education centers in the Krishna river delta.

VASIREDDY VENKATADRINAIDU

Vasireddy Venkatadri Naidu is famous and ruled 33 years. He borne on 27th April 1761 and his parents Sri Vasireddy Jagganna and Smt Achamma. He was assumed charge in 1783 at Chintapalli. Later he crossed Krishna river and made Amaravathi as his capitol till his death.

It is said that those days there were many thieves who used to loot people who were on their way to hindu holy places like kashi.These thieves and bandits used to attack caravans of merchants and holy men and loot and kill them.and a representation was sent to this king asking for protection and he saw to it that all these thieves and pandits famous by the name pindaaris were killed at a place called narakulla padu near amaravathi.narakulla padu means place of buchery.this is were all those guys were killed in a war or something.after this Raja Vasireddy felt that to kill so many people is a sin and so consulted holy men and they advised him to build 101 temples.It is said that he built 101 temples all over guntur district and gave land liberally to these temples for their up keep.

Chaturmukha Bramha Temple at Chebrolu

Rarest temples on the earth is Chathurmukha Brahma temple at Chebrole nearer to Guntur, built by Raja Vasireddy Venkatadri Naidu. Chebrole was a historical site where lot of inscriptions and coinage were found in India, is a town and Mandal in Guntur district Chebrole is renowned for a temple called Brahmalingeshwara Temple. The place where terracotta figurines, two coins and lot of inscription of Cholas like Velanadu Chodas are found. Satyasaraya of Eastern Chalukyas sent an army by his general Baya Nambi to seize of the areas of Chalukya Cholas. The general entered Vengi from the south, reduced the forts of Dharanikota and Yanamadala to ashes and established himself at Chebrolu.

On the eastern gate of the lower temple there is a "Gali Gopuram" at Narasimha swamy temple of dizzy height built by Sri Vasireddy Venkatadri Nayudu. The "Gali Gopuram" has eleven storeys with openings facing east and west. It is a marvellous example of a solid awe-inspiring construction. Mangalagiri is situated on the Vijayawada-Chennai National Highway at about 10 K.M . from Vijayawada and is famous from the pre-historic times. Mangalagiri is a hill of bliss by virtue of the location of the famous temple of Lore Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy. The Lord is popular for his consumption of half of the quantity of jaggery water offered by the devotees leaving the remaining half as Prasada and that not even a single drop is found around, which is conspicuous. As such the Lord is otherwise popularily known as Panakala Narasimha Swamy or Panakala Swamy. It is one of the most sacred spots in Andhra and is noted both for its sanctity as well as for its historical importance.
